To Ken Sharpe, with Love

I had a blog for a while in which I wrote under the pseudonym “Ken Sharpe.” Ken is a young, ambitious guy who wants to reach the upper echelons of a technology company he has recently been hired to be a part of.

The consequence of writing under Ken’s name, and then coming clean about my real identity is that Ken is not me, but he will reflect on me nonetheless.

Pete Caricature

You see, Ken is a character. You might think of him as an aspect of myself, retooled to fit an imagined audience. He’s brash, pretty arrogant, quite sure of himself. He’s ambitious maybe to a fault, and his focus is on technology, technology companies, and the politics within them. Taken as a whole, those bits and pieces resemble me, but in the sense of a caricature, not a photograph. An incomplete one, at that.

On the other hand, Ken was good while he lasted. He was good for the people who followed him, who were a growing number of people curious to find out if he could pull off his plans. He was good for me because he allowed me time to focus and reflect on what I was doing and why. He inspired me to be my best self while working my way through the challenges I faced. For that, I love him, despite his shortcomings.

So, I invite you to look at the site if a career in technology interests you, but to take it with a grain of salt. I am planning to leave it up for the time being while I revisit some of the stronger material, so I can expand and revise it for this site. At some point, I may make the domain simply mirror this page and perhaps an archive of the old text.

Also, you should sign up for my updates, so you automatically know when I post something new (and undoubtedly awesome).
